Doctor Assistant’s Team Leader: Kathy Shuttlesworth
Kathy Shuttlesworth began her career at Encina Veterinary Hospital in July of 1998 as a client service representative. Soon afterward, she was promoted to become the first Doctor’s Assistant in the pilot program started by the founder, Dr. Roger Johnson. This is a position unique to Encina Veterinary Hospital. The Doctor’s Assistant acts as a liaison between the client and the veterinarian. Kathy molded the position making it a pivotal role in the line of communication between client and doctor, and now supervises and trains the Doctor’s Assistant Team. She is also the primary contact for any questions clients may have about Encina Veterinary Hospital. Kathy contributes to the Human Resources Department and wants to achieve certification in a Human Resource Management Program. During her free time she enjoys camping with her family and is training to run in her first 5k.

Patient Care Team: Amanda Meeks
Joining Encina Veterinary Hospital in 2005, Amanda Meeks started her career here as a Registered Veterinary Technician on our patient care team. In four short years, Amanda proved herself as a dedicated leader and was promoted to the Team Leader position on the Patient Care Team. As the team leader for the patient care team, Amanda oversees the entire treatment room and each patient that comes through our doors. The flow of patients and their needs is also her responsibility; she manages the floor to assure each pet is taken care of and receives the best possible care. Establishing new protocols, veterinary and medication news, training and education of her team as well as assisting with any and all procedures, Amanda is one of our busiest bees. When she isn’t taking care of the patients of EVH, Amanda enjoys getting back to her roots in Florida, swimming with the manatees, camping and hiking, fostering bottle babies (kittens & puppies) and volunteering at the Marine Mammal Center in Marin.
