Community Service
Encina Veterinary Hospital knows the importance of staying connected with the local and surrounding communities. Encina regularly supports the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America with financial contributions and conducts annual educational tours of the facility. They also sponsor local high school social events.

Dr. Johnson volunteers his services to the Squaw Valley Avalanche Rescue Dog health maintenance program. Acting as the chief veterinary adviser, Dr. Johnson performs the pet health exams and consults on the medical procedures for this important team of dogs.

We’re also very lucky and privileged to treat and care for guide dogs through Guide Dogs for the Blind, which is based locally out of San Rafael. Our doctors each have a hand in the medical care and treatment provided to these amazing dogs who work hard around the clock to bring peace and guidance to their loving owners.
Our featured pet is Tucker, a 4yr old French Mastiff. Tucker is the epitome of a survivor here at Encina. After being diagnosed with heart failure, Tucker was shortly after diagnosed with Heartworm disease. We're proud to say he's negative for Heartworm disease as of 06/2011 and doing great on his medications!
